Spent the late afternoon at Masada, an ancient palace on a mountaintop that was built by the original King Herod the Great as a vacaton getaway. Not a bad place to vacation if you are the king. Later, turned into a fortress that saw a small group of Jews holding out against the Romans in 73 A.D., with ultimately tragic results. Interesting enough that one of the networks did a mini-series about it a few years back.
