Nazareth: Sights & Sounds

Lots of little clothing and boutique stores along the sidewalk markets here. If I knew what might appeal to people, I could get something. A lot of Nazarenes were out buying things today. So I took a picture of some of the racks they were looking at. Long wrap-around scarves, etc. Interesting? Interested? I’m a guy, remember. I have no clue.

It is also important to know that the staple of the Israel diet when it comes to lunchtime dining can be boiled down to basically two things: Falafel and Schwarma. Both are almost identical, and are sold wherever you go. They both consist of a large, soft, fluffy Pita bread, stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, spices, possibly cabbage or peppers and onions, a delicious sauce, and then either smushed & grilled garbanzo beans (falafel) or lamb meat (schwarma). Healthy, low fat, and extremely delicious. I don’t think you can get a bad falafel/schwarma.

We were in a rush today while leaving Nazareth, so we ate on the bus. Since this website may be linked to the Food Channel one day, I thought I would share yet another picture of one of my Middle-Eastern lunches with you. Smile falafel. Say cheese, schwarma.

  1. I would really like some sort of fabric from Israel--not for me to wear but to use as a table runner, decoration, etc.

  2. I read the blog on shopping with a particularly vested interest. Those fabrics are gorgeous! I truly don't need anything, but would love a pashmina (scarf that you wear around your neck for aesthetics, not warmth) in jewel tones (purple, orange). You've always had an eye for fashion, so I trust your taste :)

Or if you don't see anything like that, that's absolutely fine. Bring me home an Israeli coke like the one on your knee.
