There are some things you constantly encounter in Jerusalem. Some things that are so prevalent that they form the natural background of the landscape.
Orthodox Jews in black walking, praying.

The Arab shops ("souqs") and their constantly beckoning shopkeepers.

Soldiers, congregated in groups on every corner, square, plaza, set of steps.

Tourist groups from every corner of the world walking en masse to different locations.

However, perhaps the MOST common thing to see, beyond any of those mentioned above, are --- the feral cats of the Old City. They are everywhere! Night and day -- but especially night -- nothing is more common to see in the streets than a cat darting down a path or a street on their eternal quest for food. They are EVERYWHERE! I snapped a few pictures of just a few of the many of them I saw today. (Note: I am still unable to distinguish the Jewish cats from the Muslim ones.)
