These two female solders were directly in front of me after I got pushed up to the top of the steps with everyone else. (Most everyone else in the crowd up top was Palestinian Arab, and focused on the continued goings-on, where I wasn’t getting into things quite as much. I think I stood out like a sore thumb. But no one paid me much mind.)
They both spoke English, so we chatted for a moment.
Recognizing they were on duty during a potentially heated time, I figured it would best not to try and distract them too much. Besides, they had those unfashionable riot helmets, batons, and though they didn’t carry machine guns, they had sidearm pistols, all of which is something that I think is such an unattractive look on many women. But maybe that’s just me.

After awhile, their unit got called to follow something that was going on up the street by where the officers on horseback were headed (see earlier photo in a blog). At that point, I decided to call it an afternoon.
An interesting two hours of entertainment.
Tim,
ReplyDeleteWow! These girls are cute! Sounds like you had a really really exciting afternoon--the holocaust museum--too big for words.
